FAll Season Information:
The Prospects Lacrosse Fall Season begins at the End of August with Practice/Tryouts and Box Season practices start the first weekend of September. We participate in the McLean Box League. Box games serve as our developmental venue where we build-up to 1-2 tournaments in early November.
Registration includes the following bundled services that emphasize both competition and development:
For Box lacrosse, our expectation is to field teams based on graduation year (e.g. rising 6th graders are 2024), fielding 15 players per team. We will combine grad years for the tournament (e.g. 2023/24), for a team between estimated in size of between 18-24 players (minimum of 16 players). As always, we will allow players to play up to give them as many playing reps as they can handle.
We believe we provide the BEST fall alternative for multi-sport athletes (reasonably priced, focused on development, small time commitment, and FUN). We provide experienced youth coaching that teaches players how to play box lacrosse, running a box motion offense that is built off the 2-man game. Come join us this fall to improve your game.
WHY PLAY BOX LACROSSE?
When taught and managed by coaches who understand the game, box lacrosse is a great teaching tool that aligns with the principals of the US Lacrosse Atheted Development Model (LADM)! US Lacrosse has developed guidelines for boys and girls for small-sided games, the first priority in rolling out the LADM. Building off small-sided principles already utilized in certain parts of the country, it’s a blueprint for leagues and organizations to prepare their players for the eventual transition to full-field competition. THINK SMALL, is the trend that is used to develop ELITE lacrosse players. More repititions, More Shots, More Movement, More involvement by ALL players, Less idle time.
"It's Too Rough". Don't fall into this misunderstanding. When MYL Box first started, the referees and many surrounding the game did not understand the nuances of Box; which led to misinterpretations of the rules and resulted in out of control play. THIS IS NOT HOW BOX LACROSSE IS PLAYED!!!! MYL Box has improved how they referee the game and Prospect Lacrosse coaches know how to teach box lacrosse PROPERLY. It's a CREATIVE game that simulates basketball when coached properly. There are NO TAKE OUT Checks and in fact, these types of checks are heavily penalized.
